Privacy policy for Indic Calc

Introduction

IndicStudio ("we", "our", or "us") provides Indic Calc as an offline utility application. We firmly believe that basic utilities like calculators should respect user privacy. Indic Calc is engineered to function entirely on your device without collecting, transmitting, or monetizing your personal information.

This Privacy Policy explains what data Indic Calc handles, how it is stored, and your rights regarding your information.

Information Collection and Processing

A. Zero Personal Data Collected

Indic Calc does not collect, harvest, or log any personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, physical address, phone number, contacts, or device identifiers (IMEI, Android ID, Advertising ID).

B. No Mathematical Telemetry

All mathematical expressions, numbers, calculations, timestamps, and results are processed solely in local device memory and stored in private app storage. No calculation data is transmitted over the internet, sent to remote servers, or analyzed by third-party services.

C. No Analytics or Advertising

Indic Calc contains no third-party tracking SDKs, no analytics frameworks (such as Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, or Mixpanel), and no advertising networks.

Application Permissions

Indic Calc does not request or require any sensitive runtime permissions.

• Internet Access (android.permission.INTERNET): Not requested. The application cannot transmit or receive data over local networks or the internet.
• Storage Access (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE): Not requested. The application operates solely within its sandboxed private internal storage.
• Location / Camera / Microphone: Not requested.

Local Storage and Data Retention

A. Calculation History

When you perform calculations, expressions and results may be stored locally in an internal JSON file (calc_history.json) located in the application's private sandbox directory (Context.filesDir). This data is stored solely to allow you to review, favorite, or reuse past calculations.

B. User Preferences

Your preferred calculation settings (such as angle unit DEG/RAD, scientific mode default, digit grouping, and decimal precision) are saved locally using Jetpack DataStore Preferences.

C. Data Deletion

• In-App Deletion: You can delete individual calculation entries or tap the "Clear All History" button in the History screen to instantly purge all stored calculations.
• Application Uninstall: Uninstalling Indic Calc completely removes all internal files, calculation histories, and preferences from your device.

D. Operating System Backup Behavior

In compliance with standard Android backup APIs (android:allowBackup="true"), the Android operating system may include your locally stored calculation history and preferences in encrypted Google Drive backups associated with your Google account, according to your system-level backup settings. You can manage or disable system-level backups via your device's Android Settings under System > Backup.

Explicit Data Sharing

Indic Calc includes a "Copy" feature that allows you to copy mathematical expressions or results to your device's local clipboard. This is an explicit user action. Once copied, the content resides in your device's system clipboard and is subject to the security policies of other applications to which you choose to paste it.

Children's Privacy

Indic Calc does not address or collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The application is family-safe and contains no inappropriate content, no advertisements, and no tracking.

Security

Because Indic Calc operates entirely offline without network communication, your calculation data remains protected within the Android application sandbox. We recommend securing your device with a lock screen PIN, password, or biometric authentication to prevent unauthorized physical access to your device.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may periodically update this Privacy Policy. Any updates will be reflected with a revised "Effective Date" at the top of this document. Continued use of the application after revisions indicates acceptance of the updated terms.
