Introduction & Core Principle
IndicStudio designs privacy-first Android utility applications. Indic Convert is built to function as an independent, fully offline, on-device calculation and conversion instrument. We believe mathematical utilities should never collect personal identifiers, track usage, or require network permissions.
Information Collection and Use
Indic Convert does not collect, harvest, transmit, or sell any personal data.
A. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
The app stores only user-initiated preferences and configurations locally in private device application storage (SharedPreferences):
- User Preferences: Selected decimal precision (e.g. 2, 4, 6, 8, Auto), number grouping system (Standard, Indian Lakhs, or None), and color theme mode (System Default, Teal Light, Teal Dark).
- Favorites: Bookmarked source and target unit pairings that you explicitly save.
- Conversion History: Recent conversions and copied values with timestamps, kept locally for your fast recall.
All such information remains exclusively on your device. It is never transmitted across the network, backed up to third-party proprietary servers, or accessible to IndicStudio.
B. Device & Hardware Permissions
Indic Convert declares zero permissions in AndroidManifest.xml:
- No android.permission.INTERNET
- No android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
- No android.permission.READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE or WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
- No Location, Camera, Audio, or Contacts permissions.
C. Data Leaving the Device (User-Initiated Copy / Share)
When you tap the "Copy" button in Indic Convert, the selected result is copied to your operating system's local clipboard buffer. Any subsequent pasting or sharing of that text is entirely governed by your manual actions and the destination apps you choose.
Third-Party SDKs, Analytics & Advertising
- Advertising: None. Indic Convert contains no ad networks or ad identifiers.
- Analytics & Telemetry: None. There are no analytics SDKs (such as Firebase, Google Analytics, or Mixpanel) integrated into this app.
- Third-Party Libraries: The application uses only official Android Jetpack, Kotlin, and Material 3 dependencies from Google.
Operating System Backup Behavior
In compliance with Android platform standards, local application preferences (such as your chosen number formatting and favorite units) may be included in encrypted Android system cloud backups if you have Android Auto-Backup (android:allowBackup="true") enabled on your device. You can disable this behavior at any time in your Android device settings under Settings > System > Backup.
Data Retention & Deletion
Because all user data lives exclusively in local on-device sandbox storage:
- You can clear your entire conversion history at any time using the "Clear All" button in the History tab.
- You can remove individual bookmarked pairs in the Favorites tab.
- You can permanently erase all data, history, and preferences by navigating to Android Settings > Apps > Indic Convert > Storage & Cache > Clear Storage, or by uninstalling the application.
Children's Privacy
Indic Convert does not address, target, or collect data from anyone, including children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Union). Because no personal information is collected, the application is safe for users of all ages.
Security
All conversions and mathematical calculations occur strictly in-memory and on-device. Since there are no network connections or remote databases, your data is immune to remote transit interception or external database breaches.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, the revised document will be published with an updated effective date. As Indic Convert remains an offline application, our core principle of zero data collection will not change.
