Privacy policy for Indic Focus

Introduction & Core Philosophy

IndicStudio develops privacy-respecting, utility-focused mobile applications. This Privacy Policy describes how Indic Focus handles your information.

Indic Focus is an offline-first application. It does not require user registration, does not transmit telemetry, does not display advertisements, and does not sell or share data with third parties.

Information Handled by the Application

A. Information We Do NOT Collect

• Personal Identifiers: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account logins.
• Location Information: The application has no GPS, coarse, or fine location permissions.
• Device Identifiers: We do not collect IMEI, advertising ID, Android ID, or MAC addresses.
• Biometrics & Sensors: No camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, or sensor access is requested.
• Analytics & Telemetry: No third-party tracking SDKs (e.g., Firebase Analytics, Adjust, AppsFlyer) are embedded.

B. Information Processed Locally on Your Device

• Session Records: Completed or cancelled focus sessions, including start timestamp, end timestamp, duration in seconds, interval type (Focus, Short Break, Long Break), and category tags (e.g., "Deep Work", "Study").
• User Preferences: Preferred timer durations, break intervals, auto-start options, sound/vibration toggles, keep-screen-on toggles, and appearance theme preferences.

Storage Location: All session logs are stored strictly inside a private SQLite database (indic_focus.db via AndroidX Room) and DataStore preferences (focus_settings.preferences_pb) located in the application's private sandbox directory (/data/data/com.indicstudio.focus/).

Permissions Requested & Technical Justifications

The application declares the following permissions in its AndroidManifest.xml:

Note on Network Access: android.permission.INTERNET is NOT declared. The application has no technical capability to communicate over the internet or send data off your device.

Operating System Backup & Data Retention

• Retention: Session records remain on your device until you delete them. You can delete individual logs or clear all records at any time using the "Clear All History" option in the History screen.
• Android System Backup: android:allowBackup="true" is enabled in the manifest, conforming to standard Android auto-backup rules. If you have enabled Google Drive backup on your personal Android device, your local database may be included in your encrypted device backup. You may disable this in your Android system backup settings.
• Uninstallation: Uninstalling Indic Focus removes the private sandbox directory and deletes all stored session logs.

Third-Party Libraries & Dependencies

Indic Focus uses only vetted, open-source Android Jetpack and Kotlin libraries from Google and JetBrains:

• AndroidX Core, Lifecycle, Activity Compose, Material 3, and Compose BOM
• AndroidX Room (Local SQLite ORM)
• AndroidX DataStore (Preferences Storage)

None of these libraries include analytics, advertising, tracking, or network transmission capabilities.

Children's Privacy

Indic Focus does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the app collects no personal information whatsoever, it is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we update our application features or architecture in future releases, we will update the Effective Date above. Any revised policy will be packaged with the app and posted on our official site.
