Core Commitment & Privacy Overview

IndicStudio designed Indic Speed as a completely private, offline utility. We firmly believe that your travel telemetry, current velocity, routes, and trip logs belong solely to you. Indic Speed does not collect, transmit, sell, or analyze your personal information.

Permissions & Hardware Usage Audit

Indic Speed requests only the minimal Android permissions necessary to function as a speedometer:

1. android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION & android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION

  • Purpose: Accesses the device's GPS and network location hardware to compute real-time speed, travel distance, altitude, and heading compass bearing.
  • Foreground-Only Guarantee: Location listeners are registered only while the speedometer screen is actively displayed in the foreground. When the app is minimized, sent to the background, or the device screen is powered off, the location listener is immediately and completely detached.
  • No Background Location: Indic Speed does not request or possess ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION.

2. android.permission.VIBRATE

  • Purpose: Triggers a brief haptic pulse when the current speed exceeds the user-configured speed limit threshold.

3. android.permission.INTERNET

  • Status: NOT REQUESTED. The application manifest completely omits the internet permission. Indic Speed cannot establish internet or network sockets.

Data Processing & Storage Architecture

  • In-Memory Telemetry: Real-time GPS coordinates, speed, and heading are processed ephemerally in RAM to calculate velocity and dial animations. Transient location points are not recorded to disk unless you explicitly record a trip.
  • Local SQLite / Room Database: When you record and explicitly tap "Save Trip", the trip's aggregate statistics (title, date/time, total distance, elapsed duration, top speed, average speed, max altitude, start/end coordinates) are stored exclusively in an on-device Room SQLite database.
  • Zero Third-Party SDKs: Indic Speed includes zero advertisements, zero analytics frameworks (e.g. Google Analytics or Firebase), zero social media SDKs, and zero crash trackers.

User-Initiated Data Sharing

Indic Speed provides a "Share Trip Summary" button on saved trip records. When clicked, Android's standard system share sheet (Intent.ACTION_SEND) is invoked to export plain text (such as trip distance, duration, and average speed) to an external app chosen strictly by you (e.g., WhatsApp, Messages, Email). No background transmission occurs.

Data Retention & Deletion

  • Individual Deletion: You can delete any saved trip record directly within the "History" tab by tapping the trash icon.
  • Bulk Deletion: You can purge all trip logs permanently by tapping "Clear All Trips" in the History tab.
  • Uninstall Deletion: Uninstalling the application from your device permanently removes the local SQLite database and all associated application preferences.
  • System Backup: By default, standard Android Auto-Backup rules apply to local app preferences unless disabled in your device's system settings.

Children's Privacy

Indic Speed does not collect personal data from any user, including children under the age of 13. The application is completely safe for audiences of all ages.

Policy Changes

If we update this Privacy Policy to reflect future Android OS changes or application features, updates will be reflected with a revised "Effective Date" at the top of this document.
